SUMMARY:Peer Support Program Training
DESCRIPTION:Building Hope’s Peer Support Program launched just before Thanksgiving 2020 in response to a year in which people reported record-high levels of isolation\, stress\, and depression. Over the years\, the peer program has evolved\, and Building Hope now provides funding opportunities to trained peers to run peer-led support groups in Summit County. In this training\, you will learn skills to help support other individuals in the community with whatever they may be dealing with\, and how to recognize when someone may need to be connected to a higher level of care and other appropriate resources. In addition to facilitating a Peer Support Group in Summit County\, there are several other opportunities in the community to do peer support work. While this is not a training to certify you as a peer specialist\, it can be taken to further your knowledge and competence in peer work and skills. \n*Individuals interested in being a Peer Support Group Facilitator sponsored by Building Hope must at a minimum complete this 8-hour training regimen\, designed by the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center at Colorado University’s Anschutz Medical Campus\, prior to receiving funding from Building Hope for a Peer Support Group*. \nPLEASE RESERVE YOUR SPOT FOR EACH DAY. \nThis training is facilitated in English.
