My dad was a counselor and has played a huge role in my love for the profession. I was raised in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, attended the University of Wyoming, and have a master’s degree in Licensed Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I am a National Board Certified Counselor.
I have been working in the mental health field for 20 years and I have always gravitated towards working with children and teenagers. I have experience in the residential treatment setting and juvenile probation. I did my practicum at a family counseling center and worked as a school counselor for 9 years. I enjoy working with families and developing new ways of looking at challenges and coming up with solutions to obstacles.
Growing up in our challenging and changing world is very difficult. Young people face many challenges including pressures from social media, stressors related to the pandemic, depression, and anxiety. It’s hard not to get overwhelmed with worries about the future and being overextended with activities and responsibilities. My experiences over the last 20 years have given me many insights into how to provide support and care, the most important being the development of a trusting relationship. I understand that it can be difficult to talk to a stranger and even more difficult to talk to someone you don’t know about your problems. I will follow your lead and get to know you so that we can develop a plan together that fits your needs or your family’s needs
