September is National Suicide Prevention Month. This month is an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with clients, raise awareness about the signs of suicidal ideation, and promote the importance of mental health care in preventing suicide. By prioritizing education, outreach, and self-care, we can contribute to a broader effort to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and ensure that those in need feel empowered to seek help.

In honor of National Suicide Prevention Month, Building Hope will be putting on our first annual Walk with Hope. Please join us for this event that will give the community an opportunity to reflect and heal in memory of those we have lost to suicide and mental-health struggles. Monthly Community Wide Mental Health Navigation Zoom Meeting

Dear community wide mental health partners, 

Our next community-wide MHN meeting will be informational presentations on September 18th at 9am. We will hear from Michael Barber, the Colorado Area Director for the American Foundation Suicide Prevention, as he shares suicide statistics in Colorado as well as safety planning and how to help suicidal individuals. We will also hear from Dayna DeHererra-Smith, the Director of Community Engagement & Development from Porchlight-Front Range Clinic, and get refreshed on their services and programs available in Summit County.

10th Annual Building Hope Golf Tournament on Monday September 9th, 2024

The Mayor’s Cup is back! The 10th Annual Building Hope Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament presented by the Town of Frisco and Copper Creek Golf Course at Copper Mountain will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Copper Creek Golf Course at Copper Mountain has generously agreed to host us again this year with 18 holes of golfing benefiting Building Hope Summit County. 

Tournament Info

• Monday, September 9, 2024 at 10:30am with check in starting at 9:00am inside the clubhouse
• Copper Creek Golf Course is located at 104 Wheeler Place at Copper Mountain
• Limited to 36 teams
• 18 holes, cart, and snacks and BBQ included
• Four person scramble
• Hole and meal sponsorships available
• Team and flag prizes
• Mulligans will be available onsite for $30 each with a maximum of eight mulligans per team.

Building Hope strives to offer professional development opportunities and trainings to our local provider network to support your professional development. Apply for Funding to Run a Community Support Group!

Mental health providers that live in or serve Summit County may apply for support group funding through 2024 through this form. The application is open year-round and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Support groups can be proposed for up to 12 group sessions at a time, with the option for holding more group sessions by re-applying. The same provider may propose/apply for funding for multiple different groups in one calendar year as well. Groups supported financially by Building Hope need to be open to the public of Summit County as well as free for them to participate in. Apply for a Mini-Grant for a Professional Development Opportunity! 

If you are interested in attending advanced training for the advancement of a mental health specialization or completing further education courses to advance career development, apply for mini-grant funding through this form. Funding is available through the end of 2024. If you have any questions, please email kristen@buildinghopesummit.org.

Third Party Billing and Credentialing Support

Building Hope has funding this year to assist local Summit County mental health providers in obtaining credentialing with insurance companies, enabling them to accept & bill insurance with our Billing and Credentialing program, thus making mental health treatment more accessible and affordable for individuals in our community. If you are interested in participating in the Insurance Incentive Program, please contact info@buildinghopesummit.org for more information.

Confirm you are current with licenses and liability insurance on Mountain Strong

This is a good time of year to confirm that you are current with all your licenses and certificates on Mountain Strong. All licenses, insurance certificates and DORA registrations must be current on your Mountain Strong account. Provider accounts will automatically become inactive if your documents are not up to date. An inactive account will not receive new client requests, and you will be unable to log sessions or receive payments.

Please log into your account to verify that your documentation is current. Accounts that are not current will have a “Pending” status, or you may be taken directly to your provider application to make your updates.

To update your account, click the blue “View/Edit Profile” button. Once in your profile, click through all tabs to make sure everything is current. Pay special attention to the Licensure & Insurance Information tab.

Immediate Intake Availability at Charlie Health

Charlie Health currently has immediate availability to accept patients into their virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

Upon receiving a referral, patients can start their treatment journey with CH in as little as 24 hours. Their dedicated Clinical Team will work closely with each patient to craft a personalized treatment plan tailored to their specific needs, ensuring long-term healing and recovery.

They accept patients aged 11-34 and are in-network with many major insurance plans.

To make a referral today, fill out their quick & easy referral form. Their Admissions Team will be in touch ASAP to start your patient’s free level of care assessment and insurance verification. 

Survey Request: Demand for Bilingual Counselors & Social Workers 

CMC is preparing an application for the Department of Labor’s Strengthening Community Colleges grant opportunity to increase the number of licensed bilingual Latinx mental and behavioral healthcare professionals across the communities served by CMC (Chaffee, Eagle, Garfield, Lake, Pitkin, Routt and Summit). This application is due soon, and they’d love your input to inform the needs and desired outcomes for this project.

Paragon BHC’s Community Offerings 

Community Stabilization Programming (CSP), Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), and Mobile Crisis Response are offered through Paragon BHC in Summit County.

• CSP offers tailored support to stabilize individuals recently discharged from acute care settings, incorporating interventions like the Rudd Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (B-CBT) approach.
• ACT provides ongoing, community-based support through multidisciplinary teams, ensuring personalized care and access to essential services.
• Mobile Crisis Response offers immediate assistance during acute mental health crises, bridging gaps in care and facilitating timely interventions.

Together, these approaches aim to promote recovery, stability, and community integration for individuals and families facing mental health challenges. New Online Course for Crisis Counselors from SPRC

The Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) is pleased to announce the release of their new online course, Talking About Lethal Means: A Course for Crisis Counselors. This free, self-paced course is designed specifically for crisis counselors.

In this course, participants will learn how to collaborate with individuals in crisis to reduce their access to lethal means during a crisis conversation. The course includes actionable strategies for talking about lethal means, assessing and reducing a person’s access to them, and building rapport. Participants will also learn how lethal means conversations can help decrease the need to involve emergency services.
