I’m Susan Toys and I have been in counseling for 30 years. I was interested in mental health since childhood and pursued a degree in counseling after my teaching career.

I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to work in various capacities as a therapist in Louisiana: I have community counseling center experience, have opened my own counseling office, and have volunteered with several other clinicians to start Pro Bono Jail Therapy at the Summit County Justice Center. I’ve also worked with Colorado West Mental Health to provide free treatment to local men and women who were locally incarcerated.

My past 10 years at Mind Springs Health has provided me with countless opportunities to work with many clients with a variety of backgrounds. As I am also Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in Louisiana, I continued using my skills to counsel couples and families. Through my work I have also refined my tools for group and individual therapy. I have learned and practice the most effective, up-to-date, methods of treating anxiety, depression, substance abuse, posttraumatic stress, substance abuse, personality disorders, and assist individuals that also benefit from medication management. I’m looking forward to working with you and offering you my many years of diverse experience.

PS — My speciality is with couples and families, but I also work with adult individuals. I use a family therapy approach for children/adolescents and work collaboratively with parents in a family setting.
