CDC Update for Rural Stakeholders and Communities on the COVID-19 Response

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will share guidance with partners, public health practitioners, healthcare providers, and others working to protect the health of rural communities. New Emergency Rules on Telehealth and Licensing
To help providers continue essential behavioral health services safely, the State Board of Human Services approved an emergency rule update today that immediately allows for the following actions:
- Utilization of verbal consent to treatment,
- Behavioral health services using video technology,
- Emergency license modification for agencies to continue to provide behavioral health services in the event of a statewide emergency, and
- Modification of on-site inspection requirements for agency license and designation reviews.

A 10-part Zoom series on Substance Use Disorder titled, “Walking away from Substance Shame with Michelle Marzo,” runs Thursday evenings through June 4 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Participants are invited to attend as many or as few sessions as they’d like. Topics will vary from week to week, with a significant portion of each session devoted to sharing. Topics may include: Addiction as a brain disease, vulnerability as a way out of shame, co-occurring disorders, core beliefs, the science of emotion, and spirituality, among many others.
