LOCAL

SMART Team System wide Mental Assessment Response Team – is a plainclothes Summit County Sheriff deputy, a behavioral health specialist, and a case manager who responds to mental health-related cases — including suicide threats, welfare checks, and more — to try to stabilize the person involved and de-escalate the situation. The program delivers a continuum of care from crisis response through stabilization, with the ultimate goal of safe return to the community.

Paragon Behavioral Connections  Responds to mental health crises in Summit County and can be contacted directly at the number above. A behavioral health clinician, and case manager or peer specialist can respond in-person to an individual in need, and work to stabilize the individual and connect to ongoing support and care such as their Crisis Stabilization Program. Paragon’s Crisis Stabilization Program is designed to provide accessible and flexible support that meets people where they are – either in-home, virtually, or in the community. The intensity of services fluctuates based on the individual or family’s needs.

Peer Support

Building Hope Peer Support Provides training to community members on becoming a peer volunteer and can also provide funding to help trained individuals run peer-led support groups in the community. District 17 Colorado A.A. Offers 21 peer support meetings each week, including 4 in Spanish. Of these, 20 are open to anyone who has an interest in alcoholism or A.A.; only 1 meeting is closed to members or those with a desire to stop drinking. Individuals may visit district17coloradoaa.org/meetings for a list of local meetings. If an individual is unsure or hesitant to go to a meeting by themselves, contact cpc-pi@district17coloradoaa.org, and the Public Information Chairperson can connect the individual with a volunteer member of A.A., who will call and offer to meet the individual at an A.A. meeting to help introduce them to the Alcoholics Anonymous program, including the types of meetings, literature, and sponsorship.

FIRCHas two peer support programs – Alma Peer Support for Latina Women & ACCION Peer Support for Latino Men. The ALMA program hosts monthly group sessions and then pairs women with a peer mentor, a companera, who has faced similar challenges and completed the program. You will learn strategies to relieve stress, take care of yourself, and how to achieve your goals in a confidential environment. ACCION is a safe, confidential, and judgment-free space and is a way for men to talk collectively and work on managing emotions. Mile High Behavioral Healthcare (MHBHC) Offers peer support with a specialization in working with High-Fidelity Wraparound families and individuals who are experiencing substance use or mental health-related concerns. MHBHC’s peer program also involves hosting sober events in the community. MHBHC’s peer services may be a good fit for individuals involved in their High Fidelity Wraparound program, as well as individuals who are struggling with substance use or a mental health condition and are looking for someone with lived experience that they can connect with. Mountains Dreamers, Oso Outdoors Increases opportunities and dismantles barriers for immigrants, non-English speakers, and other underrepresented communities in the mountains to be able to access the outdoors and public lands. Oso Outdoors is a progressive, inclusive, and sustainable effort that is led by people from the mountain immigrant and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community. Suicide Prevention

SpeakUp ReachOut Local to Eagle County. Provides mental health education and training, peer support, and other resources and information focused on suicide prevention.

Suicideology Offers training on suicide prevention, research and statistics, and resources for community support and resources for specific populations.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention AFSP provides information on where to find help and stories from people who have been impacted by suicide. AFSP also provides resources on how to prevent suicide, what to do/how to support individuals after an attempt, how to create safety plans, and resources for those who have lost someone to suicide.

Now Matters Now – Offers mental health skills and tools such as radical acceptance, self-care, and self-soothing techniques. They also provide online peer support.

Booze Less Summit“Booze a little less. Do a lot more” is a local campaign created to encourage community members to be thoughtful about their drinking. Through partnerships with local businesses and nonprofit organizations, BLS wants to improve access, awareness, and availability of mental health resources in Summit County. BLS is not anti-drinking; simply pro-support of the community health benefits of drinking more intentionally and responsibly.

Alcoholics Anonymous Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who come together to solve their drinking problem. It doesn’t cost anything to attend A.A. meetings. There are no age or education requirements to participate. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about their alcohol consumption. A.A’s primary purpose is to help people achieve sobriety.

Society for Neurodiversity (S4Nd) S4Nd’s peer support groups are run by and for neurodiverse people. The groups offer members mutual support, guidance, and information sharing. All S4ND peer support groups are open to anyone who identifies as neurodiverse. Groups are held monthly on Sundays using Zoom and takes place from 2:30-4pm

Mental Health AmericaConnects individuals who have a passion for mental wellness, prevention, and interventions. Those living with mental health conditions, have loved ones, or community stakeholders have a space for support and inspiration. Contains various topics such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, etc.

The Tribe Wellness Community – Free online support community for various topics including OCD, Addiction, HIV/Aids, anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+, marriage/family, and teen.

Online Support GroupsGives people living with depression and bipolar disorder a safe place to share experiences and discuss coping skills. Groups specific to BIPOC communities.

NAMI High Country Family Support Group NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for any adult with a loved one who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar experiences.

Perinatal and Postpartum Support

New Moms Support Group (Sponsored by Building Hope)

Baby Cafe Baby Café is a welcoming and cozy place where new and expecting parents can gather weekly to support one another on their breastfeeding journey while receiving guidance and tips from a breastfeeding specialist. All sessions are overseen by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) who provides free advice for families. Baby Café offers parents and their newborns a spot to relax with refreshments; share experiences, tips and techniques; and socialize with other parents in a child-friendly space. Weight checks for babies are also available free of charge.

Empty Nester Moms Group – Meet other moms who are feeling a little lost now that they aren’t cooking, cleaning and going to sports and events nonstop. Parents will meet in the Understory at the South Branch Library, Breckenridge.

Al-AnonAl-Anon is a worldwide fellowship that unites members of different backgrounds, races, and walks of life who come together to help themselves and others to lead purposeful, useful lives by overcoming the frustration and helplessness caused by close association with an alcoholic.

Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT)Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) is a free resource that supports the family members and friends of people struggling with addiction, also known as a substance use disorder. CRAFT brings together friends and family members once per week for 10-12 weeks and a trained CRAFT professional guides you through strategies you can use to have more positive interactions with the person in your life who is struggling with a substance use disorder. You’ll get to meet other friends and family members in similar situations to talk through what is and isn’t working as you navigate your relationship with your loved one who is struggling and get guided support from the CRAFT professionals.

Narcotics Anonymous – Narcotics Anonymous is a nonprofit Fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. We are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. This is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs. There is only one requirement for membership, the desire to stop using. Local meetings are held at the Agape Outpost Church: 15404 CO HWY 9, Breckenridge, CO, 80424.

Celebrate Recovery Offers online support groups via Zoom; Celebrate Recovery programming is a biblically based approach to help individuals achieve long lasting recovery by healing their hurts, guiding them toward new healthy truths, and developing life-giving habits.

The Daily PledgeThe Daily Pledge is a free, online social community, made possible by the Hazelden Betty Ford Institute for Recovery Advocacy, that provides a source of support and fellowship to those touched by or concerned about the disease of addiction.

Women for SobrietyFounded in 1975, Women for Sobriety (WFS) is the first peer-support program tailored specifically for women overcoming substance use disorders (SUDs). With both regional and online meetings, the New Life Program provides supportive, empowering, secular, and life-affirming principles that address the unique needs and challenges of women in recovery.

White BisonBased in Colorado Springs and a proud facilitator of the Wellbriety Movement, White Bison provides sobriety, recovery, addictions prevention, and wellness/Wellbriety learning resources to the Native American/Alaskan Native community nationwide.
